Took a picture of this yearling black bear as he was headed down to the creek to get a drink and I can't recall ever seeing one quite so brown. We were on the other side of the creek, maybe about 20 yards downstream and he could smell us, but was having a hard time finding us, even though our 16 foot bright yellow kayak should have been a dead giveaway! Taken on Aug. 7, 2011.
