I had the opportunity today, January 20, 2013, to photograph one of the non-migratory Whooping Cranes left in Florida. It is my understanding there are only about 20 still living in Florida. They are incredibly difficult to photograph due to the fact they are almost pure white and this bird was at least 50 yards away. It was a thrill to see such a truly rare bird!
